Four ex-players and one ex-player from the youth academy have obtained the annual grants awarded by the Athletic Club Foundation
Since the 2014/15 season, the Athletic Club Foundation has maintained a scholarship programme, called ‘Lezama Scholarships’, for players who have been discarded from Lezama for sporting reasons, but who for several years have shown a firm commitment to combine football with their studies. The aim is to reward the determined effort of the players so that both training, football and academic, are compatible. The scholarships consist of the payment by the Foundation of one year’s studies, adapted to the needs of each player.
This year there have been five scholarship recipients, four former players and one former player.
‘Lezama Scholarships’ is part of the social projects that the Athletic Club Foundation carries out in favour of the Community, together with Inclusion and Culture, one of its three main areas of action. The scholarships are decided by the sports management and are awarded and coordinated by the Foundation, with a maximum of six per year, and they may not be awarded in their entirety and may even be deserted.
