The Marca Terreno / Zelaia Irabazi project gets underway

The first training session was held on 19 September at the Rekalde Sports Centre

Last Thursday 19 September at the new Lay’s Replay pitch at the Errekalde Sports Centre, the Athletic Club Foundation kicked off the field sessions of the Marca Terreno / Zelaia Irabazi project. In total, almost one hundred girls from the Errekalde and Ibaiondo neighbourhoods will start playing football for the first time thanks to this project that aims to promote football as a recreational activity among young girls, especially in those contexts where the right of women to play sport is questioned.

The idea is to create a series of teams that compete in conventional leagues, as well as monthly events open to families, with the aim of promoting the benefits of recreational sport among young girls.

This project has been set up in collaboration with Common Goal with the support of PepsiCo and the UEFA Foundation for Children.
