For the last few seasons, the Athletic Club Foundation has run a scholarship programme for players who have left the club for sporting reasons. Scholarships are decided by the sports management and seek to reward the effort that the player has made to combine sport and studies during their formative years at Lezama. In recent years, a number of men and women players have enjoyed a year of studies paid for entirely by the Foundation, either at local universities, or in the United States or in Ireland.
