Eleven players of the champion team participated in the Reading Club on the novel “The city of rain”
TAfter a fraternal meal in which they have revived the glorious years in which they conquered two leagues, a cup and a supercup, eleven of those red and white heroes have gathered in the Reading Club of the Foral Library to talk about the book written by Alfonso del Río. The novel, entitled “The city of rain”, is set in part in Bilbao in the early 80’s, specifically 1983, when the terrible floods came together with a legendary Athletic Club. In short, it was the perfect opportunity for the Foundation to organize an Athletic Reading Club with the legends of that memorable team./p>
The event was attended by Carlos Meléndez, Santi Urkiaga, Iñigo “Rocky” Liceranzu, Andoni Goikoetxea, Txato Núñez, Miguel De Andrés, Ismael Urtubi, Miguel Sola, Patxi Salinas, Juanjo Elgezabal and Patxi Bolaños. The conversation has been moderated by the journalist Juanjo Baños and has been attended by the author of the novel, Alfonso del Río. In the memory, in addition to the barge, a game very present in the book and in the talk, the European tie against Lech Poznan, in the words of Andoni Goikoetxea, “the best game we play”.
