Bakuva Project

Since 2013, the Athletic Club Foundation has had an agreement with the Bakuva Association to run a football school, with the aim of helping children at risk of social exclusion in the area around Bilbao la Vieja (Old Bilbao) to achieve full social integration.

RELATED ODS

In this process, which the Bakuva Association carries out through the pedagogical monitoring of children, giving advice to families, study rooms, new technologies and playing sports, the Athletic Foundation has been involved in creating teams where playing football is an excuse to work on values such as discipline, the ability to work in a team, self-confidence, pride in belonging to a group, etc.

The Bakuva Project currently has three teams (under-10s, under-12s and under-14s) that compete in school competitions. The teams train twice a week at facilities provided by Bilbao Kirolak, run by volunteer coaches from Athletic Club, and they play their home matches at the sports facilities in Lezama. More than 200 children have benefited from the project since it came into operation.
